Family members tell NEWSFIRST Lance Newby was hit outside his aunt's home and just a few doors down from where he lived on Winburn Drive. They say he died about an hour after a vehicle hit him Friday night.
Newby's aunt, Angela Iwere, raced outside after her sister called to tell her their nephew had been hit just outside her home.
"I looked at him and there he was on the stretcher," Iwere said. "Everybody was trying to take care of him. I kept hollering Lance, Lance. He never did respond."
She says he died at UK Hospital.
"Lance does everything for everybody in the neighborhood," Iwere said. "He's a good child. He does everything for everybody in this neighborhood. He's really gonna be missed."
The person that hit him is still on the run.
Lexington Police say the car that hit Newby is a green or silver Dodge Durango. It was in the Winburn Drive area around 7:30 Friday night.
