Man seriously injured in fall from parking garage

Police are investigating after a man fell from a downtown Lexington parking garage on Friday night.

Witnesses tell WKYT they saw the man fall from the upper level of the garage at Broadway and Short Street. They tell us he grabbed a wire connected to a light pole before hitting the pavement face down. They believe he was very young, possibly in his late teens or twenties.

"We saw him face down, half on, half off the curb," witness David Zorin said.

Lexington Police say EMTs rushed the man to UK hospital with serious injuries to his face and head.

"His face was covered in blood, you could tell his teeth had been fractured. They were messed up and blood was just everywhere on his face," said witness Craig Mills.

Police blocked off part of Broadway between Main and Short Streets to investigate. They're not sure if the fall was an accident or deliberate.

The man is listed in serious, but stable condition in the ICU at UK Hospital.

No name or cause of the fall has been released.
