Student hit with gun, robbed by masked men

Nathan Graves, a sophomore at UK bolted home as soon as he heard what happened to his roommate inside of his apartment.

Lt. Raymond Roller, Lexington Police Department says he arrived on scene around 1 o'clock this afternoon, "Some suspects had knocked on his door. He opened the door and they forced their way in. During the course of the robbery, they struck him in the head and took some cash from him."

"This is a total shock obviously," says Graves.

Graves was studying in the library when his cellphone went off,"I just got a text from my roommate saying that we had been robbed. They called the cops, and I guess one of my roommates had been hit in the head with something but I think they're all okay."

Graves can't believe this could happen to his friends, "I grew up with one of them in a small town too so we're not used to this. None of us have any criminal record. It's definitely a surprise."

The victim was treated by the fire department inside of his apartment but declined a trip to the hospital. He's expected to be okay.

"Obviously, this is a shock. Hopefully, this will be over and they'll be able to find out who did this and what not," adds Graves.

Police combed the property looking for three suspects said to be armed with firearms but didn't find anyone.

Despite the robbery, Graves still feels like The Lex is a good place to live.
