Mother, toddler cut from car after crash

A young mother and her child survived a close call. She had to be cut out of her car, along with her toddler, after crashing on Liberty Road.

Police say the woman got distracted by the little girl, and ran off the road, slamming into a tree.

Liberty Road was closed for about 45 minutes while emergency crews cleaned up that accident.

People living along that stretch of road say this isn't the first time a crash has happened right outside their front door.

"This road is notorious for accidents. We had had one just a few months ago where the man did not live. It was just a few houses down," said Claudia O'Neil.

O'Neil says while she wasn't able to help with the rescue, her and her neighbors did what they could.

"We just started praying. We just locked arms while we were waiting for the people with the saws."

We're told the mother and child had minor injuries.

Liberty Road re-opened around 9:45 Friday morning.
