A Fayette County District judge waived Mark Cave's case to a grand jury Thursday.

We expected to hear police testimony during Thursday's hearing, giving more detail into the the murder of a woman whose body was found in a trash can. But that didn't happen.

Mark Cave's attorney requested the case be waived to a grand jury, and the judge did just that.

Cave is charged with murdering his mother, Sharon Cave-Howard. Police found her decomposing body in a trash can off Fortune Drive last week.

Lexington Police say Cave confessed to killing her and told them she died in June.

We learned Cave-Howard was reported missing in December, and police say a tip led them to discover her body last week.

The coroner says Cave-Howard died of blunt force trauma to the head.
