LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - New and disturbing details emerged Thursday morning about a Lexington murder.
The information came out during a hearing for Darryl Stewart. He is accused of killing Jered Taylor at a home on Carver Road last month.
Police say a witness thought it was a drug deal gone bad. Through their investigation, they learned someone had beat up and bound Jered Taylor with duct tape. Taylor, they say, managed to break free and jump out of a front window. As he tried to get away, a witness told police two people shot at Taylor.
Police later arrested Darryl Stewart for the murder. His case is waived to the grand jury.
"He received four gun shot injuries to the upper body, a shoe print or a boot print to his upper body, other lacerations located throughout his area, his whole body. Also located on Mr. Taylor's person was duct tape in three separate locations - one on his pants, one on his head, and one on his wrist," Detective Chris Schoonover testified in court Thursday, "once the police entered 653 Carver Road a cell phone was located on the couch just a little over the window that the victim jumped out. That cell phone was out and the application was running that monitored the county dispatch for police."
Lexington police believe Stewart is the only one responsible for the death of Jered Taylor. They are looking for additional suspects that may face other charges.
