Those closest to colorful politician and attorney Gatewood Galbraith say Galbraith was being cared for by his daughters prior to his death.
Galbraith died Wednesday at his Lexington home from from complications of chronic emphysema at the age of 64, according to the Fayette County Coroner.
27 NEWSFIRST has been told Galbraith's daughters, Abby and Molly, had been caring for their father the last couple of days.
Abby was with her father when he died Wednesday morning.
A third daughter, Summer, is said to be on her way back to Lexington from New Zealand.
Wednesday night, some of Galbraith's friends gathered at a favorite dining spot of his, the Perkin's on Richmond Road, to remember the man who ran unsuccessfully five times for governor.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Milward Funeral Directors in Lexington.
