President Obama called the demise of Moammar Gadhafi momentous.

Libyan government officials confirmed Gadhafi was killed today by revolutionary forces.

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell is promising to help Libya put together a new government. For people who escaped Gadhafi's reign of terror, news of his death is reason for new hope.

Suleiman Darrat is a Libyan native and a former UK professor.
Darrat exiled for Libya thirty-two years ago and has never been back.

Darrat says the victory of the recent news about the death of Ghadafi is being felt here.

He said many Libyan’s are thrilled. He also believe this will be a new beginning for those in Libya- a time where people will be able to think and speak for themselves, something many in that country has never been able to do.

Darrat said he did speak to his brother who is in Libya and he says the streets are over filled with people celebrating.

He said he also just booked his ticket to go back to Libya in two weeks – the first time in thirty-two years.
