A bizarre crash forced a Lexington couple from their home early Thursday.
A pickup truck landed in the living room of the duplex on Codell Drive, off Woodhill Drive.
"I heard and felt something like a cannon going off," says Curtis Neikirk, who lives in the duplex.
Work is already underway to put back together what the pick-up truck tore apart.
"Saw everything in shambles in the living room, and then came outside and saw everything down here," says Neikirk.
He and his wife were asleep upstairs when the loud crash woke them up. Thinking it was a wreck, Neikirk looked outside, but saw something quite different.
"I looked out the bedroom window and saw the red truck sitting in the front of the house," he says.
When the couple went downstairs to check out what happened, the driver and his passenger were nowhere in sight. Neighbors told police they saw two men run off toward Woodhill Drive.
"It's an awful thing," says neighbor Maria Duenas.
"It just makes me mad," Neikirk says, "You know, if you're going to do something like that, at least have the gumption to stay around and fess up to it."
He says looking at the damage, most of their belongings on the inside seemed to be unharmed.
The couple tells WKYT they're staying in another, empty duplex here on the same street until the repairs are complete.
Police impounded the truck and say the vehicle is from out of county. They tell us they're running the tags in attempts to track down the two men in the truck.
