Officials say it's a plan that will make Lexington's parking garages safer.
Next week, The Urban County Council will hear a proposal to allow the Lexington-Fayette County Parking Authority to take over ownership of three city garages.
The proposal includes the Annex garage, Victorian Square garage and the Transit Center garage.
The Parking Authority would also manage the Courthouse garage. The group would take over ownership of that garage after the city pays off a debt on it.
Officials with the Parking Authority say the proposal would save the city money and allow repairs to be made to all the garages.
The city had to demolish the Phoenix garage last month.
It closed last year after a concrete panel fell and officials determined it wasn't safe to reopen.
