LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police believe the same man is behind at least three business burglaries on the city's east side.
The latest crime happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Surveillance videos shows a man throwing a flowerpot through a window at the Subway on New Circle Road, between Eastland Parkway and Industry Road. Once inside, investigators say the thief stole cash from the register and a coin machine. Police say the suspect's description and method match a Sunday night burglary at a Subway on Palumbo Drive.
On Tuesday morning, Lexington Police revealed that they think the same man is also behind a break-in last week at Taqueria San Miguel restaurant on East New Circle. In surveillance photos from that crime scene, the suspect is seen wearing a surgical mask to cover his face.
Lexington Police are looking into the possibility that this man is behind on burglaries in that area of New Circle Road.
"When we have a situation like this where we have several burglaries, break-ins or thefts in the same area, with a similar method of commission, we can never say for sure until we have the person here and we can question them," said Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts. She went on to say, "If they're responsible for all of them, we're going to look into the possibility that this suspect or group of suspects could be connected to quite a few burglaries and thefts around town that fit this same sort of description as far as the commission method goes."
