Police: Woman stole thousands from parents

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say Priscilla Parsons was supposed to be in charge of her parents' care, doing everything from preparing their meals to cleaning their house to dispensing their medications. Instead, they say she'd been stealing thousands from them in order to fund a drug habit.

"It's not unusual, but it is very unfortunate, especially when someone who does have a problem, or an addiction, then victimizes the very folks that they're supposed to be caring for," said Lexington Police spokesperson Sherelle Roberts.

Police say Parsons had been forging checks on her parents' account to pay for cocaine. They say she stole at least $2,990.

"It is disheartening when you hear a situation like this. We're certainly glad that we were able to follow up on it and get the evidence that was necessary to charge this individual and of course, get these folks who she was caring for out of her care and to someone who can take care of them," said Roberts.

They say she was also stealing her mother's Percocet pills when she would fill the prescription at a local pharmacy. They say she had stolen 120 of them.

"It's not unusual where we hear that people are stealing from loved ones, from family members, from people that they care for to fuel drug addictions," said Roberts.

Parsons is charged with forgery, theft by deception, exploiting an adult, and theft of a controlled substance.
