LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police responded to a shooting at the intersection of Jackson and East Seventh Street late Saturday night.
One victim has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the face.
It's still a very active scene as police work to piece together exactly what happened that led to a man being shot.
It all happened about 10pm on Saturday on the intersection of Jackson Street and East Seventh Street.
Police say a young man was walking down the road with his girlfriend when someone shot him in the face, around his chin.
Witnesses say after the victim was shot he began riding his bike away from the scene, but eventually came back once police arrived.
Police believe the person who shot him is one of three juveniles who were hanging out on the curb near Seventh Street around the time of the shooting.
Officers are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting but they are interviewing witnesses as well as the woman who was with the victim at the time.
The victim has been transported to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The patient is expected to go into surgery shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
