Police searching for man who robbed Lexington Walmart

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are searching for a man who got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Lexington Walmart Saturday morning.

Around 9:30am police responded to the WalMart on Richmond road for a robbery report. A man entered the store's Money Center and pretended to be a customer, asking the cashier for a money order.

"When she started to fill out the money order he handed her a note that implied that he had a gun and for her to give him money," said Lt. Chris Van Brackel with Lexington Police.

He was handed the money and fled the store on foot, walking the length of the shopping center.

Police say he left the property and went to a nearby park where they believe he had a vehicle waiting.

"Usually somebody doing something like this is going to wait for a more secluded area or at least a less busy time," Van Brackel said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lexington Police department.
