Police believe same robber behind early crimes

Lexington police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they believe robbed two gas stations.

The first happened at the Thorntons on Versailles Road near Red Mile Road.

The clerk told police the man acted as if he was going to pay for a fountain drink, but instead jumped over the counter. The robber pushed the clerk and grabbed money from the register.
Officers were on scene less than a minute after the crime, but the robber still got away.

A few hours later, around 3:30 Friday morning at the Speedway on Winchester Road, near Strader Drive. Police say the robber showed a knife and got away with cash.

"This is one of those situations where we're concerned because obviously this suspect is brazen. He commits two crimes within just a few hours. And in both cases seems pretty casual, pretty nonchalant" said Lexington Police spokesperson Sherelle Roberts.

No employees at either gas station were hurt during the robberies.
