A man is behind bars, accused of shooting two people inside a Lexington home and injuring a third.
This all happened on Wayland Drive near Bryan Station Road, just after 2:00 Monday morning.
Lexington Police and the mobile crime lab spent hours at the home on Wayland Drive Monday.
Police arrested 18-year-old Edgar Vieyra, shortly after the break-in and shooting at the home.
When officers arrived, they found two people, a man and a woman, who'd been shot. They also found one woman with a bad cut to her face. And then they found Vieyra, being held down by someone else in the home.
"There was another resident that had the suspect held down. Our officers did place the suspect into custody," says Lt. David Biroschik, with Lexington Police.
Police say Vieyra shot at the home before breaking in. Officers say four young children were inside the home, but they slept through the whole ordeal.
A neighbor living across the street says the neighborhood is calm, but for this one house.
"It's a quiet neighborhood. We've never has any trouble. There was a shooting about a year and half ago over there, same house," says Christy Davenport.
Police spent the morning and on into the afternoon working out of their mobile crime lab, collecting evidence from around the house, and taking pictures.
Police say they weren't sure what led up to the shooting early Monday morning.
"It's too early to know why or what. But, I believe he is known to the residents, but the exact relationship has not been determined," Lt. Biroschik says.
Vieyra was charged with violating a domestic violence order.
EMS took Vieyra to the hospital, but he refused medical treatment.
In addition to being charged with violating a DVO, he faces assault charges and burglary charges.
Police say shooting victims are one man and one woman, and the woman was shot in the torso. Police say the man has life-threatening injuries.
