Police investigate whether overnight robberies, shooting could be connected

Lexington Police are trying to determine if a drug store robbery could be connected to an early Tuesday morning shooting.

The Walgreen's on Harrodsburg Road was robbed by a man dressed in black armed with a gun around 5 a.m.

Police want to know if the same man, or the same group of men, pulled off two robberies -- one at 5th and Jefferson Streets and the other at 6th and Jefferson Streets hours earlier.

In one of those robberies, a man was shot in the leg and later showed up to be treated at U.K. Hospital.

Meanwhile, police in Nicholasville are investigating another early-morning robbery.

A man dressed in black pulled a gun on employees at the BP Double Kwik at Catnip Hill and U.S. 27 around 3:30 a.m.

The robber demanded money, then ran off.

Police say the suspect was completely covered in black clothing, and his face and hands were covered too.

Police are reviewing surveillance video to try to identify him. So far, investigators don't think the Walgreen's and BP robberies are connected.
