LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A power outage caused problems for thousands of people in Lexington Wednesday night.
The biggest trouble spot was Whitaker Bank Ballpark, where the Boys State Baseball Tournament is going on. Officials with Kentucky Utilities tell us the problem started with a crash on Russell Cave Road around 7 p.m.
Then around 9 p.m., a transformer blew, knocking out power to 2,000 customers, including Whitaker Bank Ballpark on North Broadway.
We are told two people were briefly trapped in an elevator there, but they are now out and safe.
Power was restored to the area around 10 p.m. The baseball game that was interrupted by the power outage then continued.
