The FBI and UK police are investigating a professor who is accused of having child porn on his work computer.

Neil Williams, from Fayette County Detention Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - University of Kentucky Police say a snapshot of professor Neil Williams' computer at the UK Veterinary Diagnostics Lab contained images of child pornography. Thursday, his attorney entered a not guilty plea.

UK Police say they were dispatched the university's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory to investigate images portraying child pornography. When they got there, they say they found those images on a snapshot of Williams' desktop and external hard drive.

"It's sick. It's just really sick," said neighbor Terri Melgar.

Officers arrested Williams, charging him with possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor. At his arraignment in Fayette District Court this afternoon, his attorney entered a not guilty plea.

"Traditional that you would enter not guilty plea to determine the facts because you certainly wouldn't want a guilty plea and then realize that you made a mistake," said Williams' attorney, Burl McCoy.

Williams has worked at UK since 1987. He's the associate director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory with a salary of just under $134,000. University officials say he's been suspended with pay while police and the FBI investigate. Police seized Williams' computer and external hard drive, which they'll search once they get a warrant. A neighbor says she's sickened by any reports of child pornography.

"It's a real problem in the culture. We see it on the TV. We've sexualized all of our kids, whether it's magazines, advertisements, or whatever. We've robbed our children of their childhood," Melgar said.

Williams is due back in court on March 17.
