Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) - The Red Cross is sending disaster workers, emergency vehicles, mobile kitchens and relief supplies to the Gulf Coast states.
Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to move into the area later this week as a hurricane.
Two disaster service volunteers from central Kentucky have deployed already.
Two more volunteers are preparing to go.
Nationally, over half of 300 Red Cross emergency response vehicles have been deployed or put on alert.
Dozens of Red Cross shelters are on stand-by and more than 50 pre-positioned support trailers are ready with supplies.
Red Cross warehouses in Georgia and Mississippi are prepared to ship additional supplies if needed as well.
