LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Crews say a retired fire chief is responsible for putting out a car fire that was the result of an accident Sunday.
It happened around 1:00 p.m. Sunday on Reynolds Road.
Officials at the scene say a car was attempting to leave a grocery store and get onto Reynolds Road.
They say the driver was using his or her cell phone and was hit by another vehicle going westbound on Reynolds.
Fire crews say one vehicle caught fire, but a retired Fayette County Fire Chief was on the scene and quickly put out the fire.
Two people were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
