LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Robbers looking for some quick cash or even just food are targeting delivery drivers around Lexington.
Three scenarios over the weekend reveal that food delivery drivers are the latest target in a string of robberies on Devonport Drive. On Friday, it was a pizza delivery driver. On Saturday, it was during a chicken wing delivery. Last night, it was a Chinese food delivery man.
In all three cases the victims were approached by two black men armed with guns who stole cash and cell phones.
Officials with the Lexington Police Department say for anyone who's out for whatever reason late at night to be alert.
"If you're going to be out late at night no matter who you are, delivery driver or private citizen, stay in well-lit areas, walk with a friend, be very aware of your surroundings. Don't be listening to iPods, or music, or things that will divert your attention. Try not to talk on the phone," said Sherelle Roberts, Public Information Officer for the Lexington Division of Police.
If you have any information about these robberies, you're urged to call police.
An incident involving another pizza delivery driver happened last Wednesday night when a man armed with a gun approached him. But instead of demanding cash, he only got away with the pizza. Officials say that incident is not related to the robberies on Davenport Drive.
