ST. MARK ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH ANNOUNCES A DAY AMONG FRIENDS WITH LADY LAURA BUSH

RICHMOND, KY – St. Mark Roman Catholic Church is pleased to announce “A Day Among Friends” with special guest – former First Lady Laura W. Bush, who will visit St. Mark Catholic School on Tuesday, May 24th and then speak on the importance of literacy and education at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Kent Kessler, in Richmond.

"We couldn’t be more pleased to have a guest speaker of Mrs. Bush’s caliber gracing St. Mark,” Fr. Sichko said. "We feel so fortunate and blessed to be able to offer such a variety of events to our community,” Fr. Sichko explained. “Reading is crucial to a child’s development. With all the work Mrs. Bush has done in the past to promote reading with children, this will be a wonderful event for a great cause.”

To promote literacy, Mrs. Bush will read to children from St. Mark, as well as school students from the Richmond Public School system. Also at the reading will be students from Eastern Kentucky University’s education program.

Tickets for the luncheon are $150 per person, which includes lunch, a speech by Mrs. Bush and an autographed copy of her book, Spoken from the Heart. Tickets for $500 include the luncheon, speech, autographed book and premier seating. A limited number of 100 tickets for $1,000 can be purchased and will include the luncheon, speech, signed book, plus an opportunity to meet with Mrs. Bush at a small gathering. A very special and limited group of 50 attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Bush privately and have their photograph taken with the former First Lady. Tickets to the very special, private event are $2,500 per ticket.

Mrs. Bush started her lifelong passion for reading and books as a young girl and decided in 2nd grade that she wanted to be a teacher. She followed her dream and combined her love of books to become a teacher and a librarian. Much of Mrs. Bush’s public service has been dedicated to helping children and promoting literacy. She currently serves as the United Nations’ Ambassador for the Global Literacy Decade.
