FAYETTE & SCOTT COUNTIES, Ky. (WKYT) - Bells will be ringing in Central Kentucky as a part of the Salvation Army's Doing the Most Good Week.
This past holiday season the Salvation Army fell short of its donation goal in Central Kentucky. The group was $20,000 short in Fayette County and nearly $5,000 short in Scott County.
Beginning Thursday, and continuing through Saturday, volunteers will be out ringing bells in hopes to get the money they need.
As apart of Doing the Most Good Week, a local donor has agreed to match kettle contribution up to $10,000.
Several individuals and groups have volunteered to ring the bell.
Kettle contributions will support the Salvation Army's emergency shelter for women and children, food pantries, emergency assistance programs, as well as summer and after-school youth education programs.
Kettle locations in Lexington: Fayette Mall, Krogers (Beaumont Centre and Richmond Rd), Walmart (Nicholasville Rd, Richmond Rd and New Circle Rd) and SAM'S Club (Nicholasville Rd).
Kettle locations in Gerogetown: Walmart and Kroger.
