Several report vandalism near UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - People who live along the 400 block of Marquis Avenue said they don't have many problems. Last night, though, it was a different story with at least four reports of shattered windows.

"I was upstairs doing some homework, typing out an essay and I heard a crash," said Franklin Crain.

That was a common theme last night.

"I was just sitting in my room and I heard a crash," said Corey Neal.

People in four separate houses reported having rocks thrown through their windows late last night. Franklin Crain said he jumped up to see what had happened immediately.

"I looked out the window and I saw nothing. I got right up and looked out the window up there. There was nothing, nobody, nothing," said Crain.

He and Neal live across Marquis Avenue from each other.

"We haven't really had any trouble in the area so far, so it's kind of surprising that more than one house got hit," said Neal.

Crain thought it could be way for burglars to see if anyone's home.

"I though possibly this could be his rules of engagement. He throws the rock, if any lights come on, or maybe no shadows or people walking around, he might go on in," said Crain.

They said nothing was taken from their homes, but it's still a concern.

"It kind of makes me a little nervous. I don't really know who it would really be. I don't know who would really want to throw rocks in four or five different houses. I don't know if they were trying to get in. The rock was kind of small so I don't know if it was just kind of vandalism or if they were actually trying to get in," said Neal.

The victims said the attacks happened after 10:00 Monday night. They plan to keep a close eye on the streets from now on.
