We learned more today about a triple shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy.
Deionta Hayes has pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing Chaz Black Sunday at an apartment on Palumbo Drive in Lexington.
In a court hearing on Thursday morning, a detective took the stand to testify about the details of the case.
"[Witnesses said Hayes] pulled a handgun, shot one victim point blank range, saying get it out, get it out," Lexington Police Detective Robert Wilson says.
The detective went into detail about what officers found after arriving at the Palumbo Drive apartments Sunday afternoon.
He says they saw one shooting victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to the groin. They also found a second victim shot in the chest. Once inside the apartment, they saw someone holding Chaz Black, who was also shot in the chest.
Police interviewed four witnesses. All pointed police in the direction of Deionta Hayes.
On Monday night, Hayes showed up at police headquarters. Police arrested him.
"I think it speaks for his willingness to cooperate. When someone turns themselves in, that's a sign that they don't have anything to hide," Hayes' attorney Kate Dunn says.
The case against Hayes will now go to a grand jury to decide if there's enough evidence against him to go to trial.
