Suspicious fire damages three vans at Lexington business

A Lexington business has a mess to clean up, because of a mysterious fire that has left behind plenty of damage.

The fire torched three vans on Legion Drive, off South Broadway, Monday night.

The vans belong to Tipton Staffing and were parked in their lot.

The management at Tipton Staffing didn't want to talk about the fires, saying it was in the hands of investigators.

Lexington Fire investigators say this fire definitely had assistance, labeling it an arson. They say it's too early in the investigation to make any other statements but this parking lot is only about two miles from Preakness Apartments, where there have been at least twelve suspicious fires. Most of those have involved vehicles or storage buildings.

Paul Engelbrecht who owns nearby Amore' Strings says he's never had any problems around his shop and he doesn't plan on taking any extra steps because of the fire.

"I don't know what else I could take, what would I do? I'm not gonna hire security. I've got an alarm system and they'll let me know if anything happens," said Engelbrecht.

Witnesses tell Lexington Police that three men were hanging around the area shortly before the fire started but police say they were gone by the time firefighters got there.
