LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) - A Lexington teen involved in a violent ATV crash has died.

Police say 15-year-old Bryan Station High School freshman Michael Sparks was driving the ATV when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Eastland Parkway and Anniston Drive and collided with a truck.

The victim's name has not yet been released, but a good friend of the victim talked to us at the scene.

Grief counselors are on hand at the high school as well as the students former school, Crawford Middle. Officials tell us the freshman had also just started attending Southside Technical College.

Friends who spoke with WKYT say they are in shock. "When I saw him riding the four wheeler down the street, I was thinking in my head that I knew something was getting ready to come up and happen," said Cody Mcullough.

Police are now waiting on toxicology reports to come back on the driver of the truck, however, they do say they don't think drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
