They say they've had enough! People in a Lexington neighborhood are fuming after thieves broke into cars for the second time in four days.
WKYT has been tracking the burglaries in the Chevy Chase area since Thursday. There were a dozen reports then. The thieves returned Sunday night, but this time, they were caught on surveillance video.
For folks fed up with the perennial police reports and neighborhood news of break-ins, surveillance video catching the culprits is a welcome sight.
"We bought a security system back in the early spring due to the fact that we've experienced this before. We had a bicycle stolen, some equipment stolen out of the garage, my wife's car being gone through as well," explained Terry Herrington. His security system was the one that shot the thieves in the act. He says at least five other friends in the neighborhood had the same happen to them Monday around midnight.
"They've broken into my car once. Stole a satellite radio. Can't hardly leave anything in the backyard garages because they'll steal anything you've left in there. Someone actually came to my house once, stole my bicycle. It's terrible around here," said neighbor Nate Gray.
Herrington didn't recognize the men. He hopes the video is enough to keep them from breaking into more vehicles.
"There were two guys. I couldn't tell their age, they were young, so hopefully someone will identify them out there and can help us get rid of those guys, get them off the street."
