A man accused of murdering a Lexington Doctor last year faced a judge today and will be headed to trial early next year.

She was a well-known dermatologist. Martha Post had her own medical practice in Lexington. It was at that location off of Nicholasville Road that Lexington police say, Post was shot and killed inside of her van by sixty-five-year-old Marty Roe.

Today in court, Roe stood before the judge as the prosecution and defense decided on the dates he would go to trial.

Marty Roe's attorney Shannon Brooks-English chose January 22nd through January 31st of next year. She will be on maternity leave until November and didn't want to start the trial in the middle of the holidays.

During today's status hearing, Roe asked his attorney about a request for a change in venue. Brooks-English replied back, "Not today".

Marty Roe is expected back in court for a status hearing on May 11th.
