LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two armed men robbed a local restaurant early Thursday morning.

Police say around 4:30am, two men entered the Waffle House on Athens-Boonesboro Road, off of I-75. We're told the men were wearing ski masks and armed with small black handguns.

"The robbers forced the two female employees into the bathroom," explains store owner, Raymond Daniels. Police say the two women locked themselves inside.

We're told the robbers took more than $600 and broke into the main office and safe.

There was one customer inside the store during the robbery. He told police the two men took off in a four-door dark blue passenger car, heading outbound toward Clark County.

No one was injured.

The Waffle House was closed for a short time while police investigated but is now back open.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lexington Police Department.
