LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police have arrested two people suspected of being involved in a crime ring.
20-year-old Jaleen Watson and 19-year-old Tyler Gadberry are both accused in a string of recent thefts, including stealing thousands of dollars from a store inside Fayette Mall.
Police believe a crime ring has been responsible for multiple thefts over the past couple of months. Detectives questioned Watson at headquarters on Monday and in a taped interview he admitted to shoplifting from Apple multiple times.
Police say that during that interview, they learned that Watson and 10 other people have been involved in ongoing thefts from Apple.
Gadberry was part of that group, but they believe he was an integral part of the reselling of the stolen items, not the actual shoplifting.
Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts told WKYT juveniles have also been charged.
"We have a few other juveniles who we believe may be connected, or loosely connected to these other folks. So that's what we're going to work on, is we're going to continue to follow up and see what exactly what these people are responsible for, to see what additional charges might be merited. And to see if there are other people involved," said Roberts.
They say Gadberry and Watson were also charged with 2nd degree burglary in connection with several residential break-ins.
Both are scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday.
