The cold rain didn't even phase UK basketball fans on campus who were excited to get their free tickets to Wednesday afternoon's open practice. The practice will feature a scrimmage and air on WKYT and stream live on WKYT.com.
"This is arguably the best team we've had since our national championship team," exclaimed John Ritter, a UK Student happily displaying his ticket to us. "I wanna see them every chance I get!"
"I mean, it's an awesome experience," Spencer Smith said while he was picking up his ticket at the window of Memorial. "It's kinda cool to see the team up close and personal."
Hayley Walters, a sophomore, said she couldn't believe how quickly the small ticket lines were going and was grateful to get to go. "Usually, buying a ticket, they scan my ID. But I just walked up to the window and the guy looked at it and like, slid the ticket under the glass and that was it!"
In addition to getting an insider view, Coach Calipari says fans will get one more chance to own a limited edition Anthony Davis poster distributed at the Florida game last week.
Some sold for hundreds on eBay in the days following. A few hundred extras will be distributed randomly to the crowd inside Memorial.
Seating for students, faculty and staff is first come first serve. Practice starts at 3 in the afternoon and UK officials are asking that nobody show up before doors open at 2.
The game practice will air live on WKYT and stream live on WKYT.com.
