Changes are coming to fireworks in Lexington beginning next year.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the Urban County Council approved an ordinance, restricting the times fireworks can be set off to between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The only exceptions will be July 3, 4 and New Year's Eve when the time will be extended until midnight.
Under the ordinance, fireworks can't be set off within 200 feet off a car, building. or person.
Businesses wanting to sell fireworks must apply for a permit.
