Vice President Joe Biden's wife will visit community colleges in Kentucky and Tennessee to promote President Barack Obama's proposal for an $8 billion program to train community college students for high-growth industries.
Jill Biden is to visit Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington, and Roane State Community College at Harriman, Tennessee, on Thursday. She'll be joined by U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.
The two will be in Lexington on Wednesday evening to meet with UPS employees.
It's part of a three-day, five-state tour to highlight the role of community colleges in developing a skilled work force. The tour starts in Ohio and ends in North Carolina.
Jill Biden was a community college instructor for 18 years, and Solis began her public service career as a community college trustee.
