Hundreds of fans gathered this evening downtown for live music, food and drinks as a way to celebrate their Wildcats one last time.
"I've always been a Wildcat fan," explains event organizer Jonathan Hatcher, "I'm originally from Florida, but my dad bought me a UK shirt when I was young and I've been a fan ever since."
Local businesses put up stands and vendors sold Big Blue Nation t-shirts as a way to celebrate their cats and raise money for local charities. "We want to say thank you to our Wildcats, and what better way to do that than throw a party. All the proceeds will go to two charities within the area, I think it's the best way to say thank you and give back."
Hatcher says he plans to throw another Block Party sometime before football season. "I want this to become a tradition. Lexington has a lot to be proud of and I want to allow them opportunity to celebrate this city anyway they can."
