Police say they went to Simba Way after a fight got out of hand.
They were called out around 2:40 Wednesday morning for what they say was an assault disorder. Police say the fight between two women started through text messages.
They say 36 year-old Shawnika Gill went to her girlfriend's house and threw gasoline on her in an attempt to set her on fire.
When that didn't work police say the two got into a struggle and Gill grabbed a knife, cutting the other woman.
While her girlfriend was taken to the hospital with cuts to her arm, Gill was arrested and taken into custody.
Police say the victim should recover.
Gill is charged with second-degree assault.
