A passing driver saw the car turned over just off the exit ramp from the inner loop of New Circle to Nicholasville Road just after 3AM.
Lexington Police say 20-year-old Audrey Hounshell lost control of her car while taking the ramp.
Police say her Mazda rolled several times and Hounshell was thrown from the vehicle. Police say she wasn't wearing a seat belt and believe the car rolled over her. She was taken to UK Hospital but died from her injuries.
The ramp was closed until about 6:20 this morning while the accident reconstruction team did their work.
"(There was) little to no intrusion into the passenger compartment of the vehicle. If she'd had her seat belt on she more than likely would have stayed inside the vehicle. Could have survived the crash, walked away," said Sgt. Ronald Keaton with Lexington Police.
Hounshell was a local singer and songwriter. She was scheduled to perform Thursday night in Nicholasville.
