The parking lot in the Continental Square was full early New Years morning, not with tenants cars, but police cars.
When they arrived on scene, they found a woman who had been shot.
She was taken to the hospital, but later died from her injuries.
"She was a young girl, she was nice. She was pleasant, she was a nice neighbor. Didn't bother anybody or anything," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.
The neighbor says the woman lived with a boyfriend, and that the couple had their differences in the past.
"Our relationships have their ups and their downs. But I think theirs was a little more complicated," the neighbor added.
"Just yelling, and get out, and don't come back. You know, stuff like that."
While it's unclear if that led to the woman's death, police have made an arrest.
44 year-old Gambino August is charged with murder and is being held in the Fayette County Detention.
As for the victim in the shooting, police say they won't be able to release her name until all of her family is notified.
"But I send my prayers and my blessings out to her family," said the neighbor.
She says she still feels safe living in the area even with the recent violence, but she'll be cautious from now on.
"And I also feel safe knowing that the security guard, you know he makes his rounds, but he can't catch everything. So it makes me a little uneasy."
Police say they are not searching for anyone else at this time.
