Officials in two counties readying shelters in case of power outages

PIKE & MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Emergency management and county officials in Martin & Pike counties are preparing to help those who may lose power during the winter storm.

In the event of a power outage, shelters will open at the Martin County Senior Center, located at 123 Old Middle Fork Road, and Warfield City Hall.

These shelters will only open if the power goes out.

In Pike County, Judge Rutherford's office tells Mountain News they are coordinating with Pike County Schools to create shelters at Shelby Valley High School, Pike Central High School, Belfry High School and Phelps Elementary School, in case they are needed.
