The deadly crash happened along I-64 in Rowan County near the 137 mile marker. 47-year-old Robert Luther of Dandrige, Tennessee was struck by a semi and killed. Police say Luther was working on his truck, which had broken down, when he was hit.
"3 days isn't a lot of time to accomplish what we're trying to do, but we're gonna do it, " explained Gwen Luther, Robert's ex-wife.
Gwen Luther, and the couple's daughter, Becca, left their Portsmouth, Ohio home searching for more than answers, they're looking for closure.
The two are designing and planning to post fliers all over the area at weigh stations and rest stops. The fliers will describe the May 26th accident and hopefully, generate some leads for investigators.
"Raise awareness in the community that-this person is still out there somewhere. And if he's in the community, maybe it'll spark something," Gwen explained.
"I would just want to let them know how much it would mean to me to turn themselves in, " Becca said.
Both say this journey was too much for the former couple's son, 18-year-old Ryan.
"He wants to blame himself for the accident. If he hadn't been traveling from his Graduation and back, it wouldn't have happened," Gwen said.
As they work feverishly to get the word out, they both take comfort knowing Robert Luther is watching over both of them.
Police say they don't have any leads and they may be looking for a blue semi, with a missing mirror and some front-end damage.
