MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Former Morehead State basketball standout Demonte Harper, who hit the game-winning three-pointer in MSU's upset of Louisville in the NCAA Tournament in March and was the OVC Tournament MVP, has signed to play professionally in Croatia.
"I am thrilled for Demonte," said MSU coach Donnie Tyndall. " He had an outstanding career here at Morehead State, he graduated on time with his degree, and now he is going to be fulfilling a goal of playing professional basketball. Demonte is a great team player and an even better person and leader, and I couldn't be happier for him."
Harper has signed a one-year contract with KK Cibona VIP Zagreb in Croatia's highest level A1 League. Cibona has won 16 Croatian championships in its history.
Harper will join former Kentucky Wildcat Antwain Barbour and former Michigan State center Goran Suton on the team.
Harper finished his four-year career at MSU by being named First-Team All-OVC. He averaged 15.5 points and 3.4 assists per game during the year and was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District Team and to the Lute Olsen All-American Team. He scored 27 points and had 11 rebounds in the OVC Championship game against Tennessee Tech.
