Dogs seized in puppy mill raid nearly ready for new homes

The Kentucky Humane Society received 55 dogs seized from a puppy mill on Monday morning. An American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescue trailer brought the dogs to Louisville from Morehead.

The dogs were seized in October after a puppy mill investigation led by the Rowan County attorney's office. The puppy mill operator, Patricia Blevins, pleaded guilty earlier this month to two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty and one count of kennel violation. She forfeited ownership of 136 dogs to the ASPCA.

The dogs range in age from five months old to 10 years old. Photos and descriptions of the dogs will be added to the KHS website when they are ready for adoption.
