MOREHEAD, Ky. – The defending Ohio Valley Conference Tournament champion Morehead State men’s basketball team will have at least three appearances on national television in 2011-12.
The Eagles will participate in this year’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon at the College of Charleston on Nov. 15. The game will be televised by ESPN at 8 a.m. ET.
MSU will also host a pair of ESPNU showdowns during its conference slate -- Austin Peay on Dec. 31 at Noon ET and Tennessee Tech on Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. ET.
Multiple games could be added to Morehead State’s national television schedule at a later date. Jan. 21, Feb. 2 and Feb. 23 have been designated as OVC Wild Card games on ESPNU, while the TV portion of this year’s Sears BracketBusters event (Feb. 18) has yet to be announced.
In addition, the first OVC Tournament semifinal (March 2) will be shown by ESPNU and the championship tilt (March 3) will be shown by either ESPN or ESPN2.
Game times for the upcoming season have been finalized and are now available on MSUEagles.com. The MSU men and women will team up on several Saturday doubleheaders at Johnson Arena, while each program will also host several stand-alone contests.
The men’s season begins with exhibition games vs. Mountain State (W.Va.) on Nov. 3 at 7:45 p.m. ET and St. Catharine (Ky.) on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. ET. MSU’s regular-season home opener is against Asbury (Ky.) on Nov. 17, also at 7 p.m. ET.
Morehead State is coming off one of its most successful seasons in school history. The 2010-11 Eagles finished 25-10 overall, 14-1 at home and 13-5 in conference play. MSU also won the OVC Tournament and upset Louisville in the NCAA Tournament.
