Morehead State University’s Kentucky Center for Traditional Music will present “The Semester Finale,” an evening of traditional music, at the Rowan County Arts Center, Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. The Rowan County Arts Center is located at 205 East Main Street.
The event is the fall semester’s final concert by all sections of ensemble classes offered at the Center. Classes have been offered in “Bluegrass Band,” “Old Time Country Band,” “Old Time String Band,” “Celtic Band” and “Traditional Music Ensemble.”
Students from the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music have represented MSU and the music and culture of the Appalachian Mountains regionally and internationally at such events as a celebration of Ralph Stanley’s 83rd birthday, concerts at venues such as the Paramount Performing Arts Center in Bristol, Tenn./Va., and performances in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
Students enrolled in classes at the Center this semester represent geographically, Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota, and even Brazil.
Admission is a suggested donation of a nonperishable food item or a small monetary donation to the Rowan County Food Bank.
