New group at Morehead mentors disabled students

A new organization has formed at Morehead State University that offers mentoring to students with disabilities.

The program called Students Empowering Exceptional Individuals pairs successful upper-class students who are disabled with middle and high school students who have the same disability.

Organization President Stacy Timberlake, who is a special education major from South Shore, told The Independent of Ashland that notices are being sent to school district's in Morehead State's eastern Kentucky service area asking them to refer any students who could benefit from the program.

Timberlake, who is nearly blind and has a seizure disorder, said the goal is to build relationships with students and help guide them through college.
