Shooter captured after police search

56-year-old Dewet Brickles is in police custody after an early morning shooting.

State Police tell 27 Newsfirst that Brickles came to his former employer's house, Unadell Eldridge, on Cranston Road in Morehead.

We're told they got into an argument at the home. Police say Brickles then shot Eldridge in the stomach.
She was transported to UK Hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries.
After a brief search, police say they found Brickles hiding near the home.

Neighbor Jeremy Jennings said he saw Brickles walking on the road toward Eldridge's home, but never suspected a shooting would take place.

"I was hoping they caught him before he could get to anybody else. Cause who knows if he would have stopped there. I didn't think he would do anything like that, but you never know," said Jennings.

Brickles is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on burglary and assault charges.
