The managers at the Wolf Run Wildlife Refuge in Jessamine County are asking for the public's help in keeping the sanctuary open.

Savannah Massey helps run the sanctuary and she says it costs roughly $1400 per month just to cover the basic expenses.

Massey says it's the big cats at the sanctuary that cost the most.

"They eat roughly 40 punds of raw chicken every other day," she says.

Besides the cats, the sanctuary is home to horses, donkeys, monkeys, goats, chickens, wolves, wolf-hybrids, and other animals.

Wolf Run relies on donations to keep the facility open. They have fundraisers nearly every week.

The next fundraiser will be at the Lexington Farmer's Market on Southland Drive this Sunday.
