Candlelight vigil held for drowning victim

Tonight was an emotional night for family and friends of a Jessamine County teenager who drowned while swimming in in the Big South Fork River in McCreary County.

Earlier today, funeral services were held for 18 year old Bryce Hood. His body was recovered about 300 yards from where he went into the river on Saturday. He was a recent high school graduate and had performed in Rent at the Lexington Arboretum last month. Tonight, his friends gathered at the arboretum for a candlelight vigil.

About two dozen of Hood's friends laid out on blankets, lit candles and played music to remember and honor their friend. Hood was very involved with the Kentucky Classical Theatre Conservatory. His friends now want to set up a scholarship in his name to help others participate in KCTC's summer program.
