Taxi driver seriously injured in stabbing

An investigation is underway after a cab driver says one of his customers stabbed him.

Nicholasville Police say they were called to Nave Place late Thursday night after getting a loud noise complaint.

Officers say they then found the driver, who told them a man stabbed him several times while trying to rob him. The driver said he thought the man wanted a ride at first.

The driver was taken to UK Hospital with serious injuries. Police say he had stab wounds to his neck and chest.

Police say while searching the area, they found a man who fit the description of the person the driver says attacked him.

Police say that person is 33-year-old Jason Oliver. Oliver is now charged with robbery and assault. He's being held at the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Oliver told police the taxi driver stabbed him first, and he fought back. He suffered some cuts.

Police say they've found the knife that was used in the attack.

Oliver denied our request for an interview from jail.
